sonnet 4

There are within my mind ten thousand hells
where night has never given place to day.
places where eternal, darkness dwells
in endless sleeping shadow shapes and shades.
There on the dark side mountains of the moon
in the razor ridged mountains known as pain
upon the dust dry paths where all too soon
thoughts of death infect a fevered brain
There I dreamt I sought the cave of night
the dark within the dark where hidden lies
all that I keep hidden from my sight
yet see still when 'ere I close my eyes.
Within the cave of night must lie the key
with which to set the prisoners souls free.
